Recipe Item Record Recipe Costing
Unit of Measure Equivalence

Creating Prep Recipe records in Restaurant365 allows Prep Recipes to be accounted for in your Inventory and entered as a sub-recipe on a Menu Item record. Prep Recipes include items that are prepared at your Location and/or purchased from Commissary and then stored in your Inventory.

Step 1: Create a Recipe Item Record

Hover over 'Item' in the top ribbon and then 'Setup' and click 'New Recipe'.

Step 2: Create a Naming Convention

On the 'General' tab, select a naming convention that can be reflected in all Prep Recipes so that you can distinguish between different item records.

For this example, we'll use 'PREP' in front of the item name.

Step 3: Select the Ingredients

Navigate to the 'Ingredients' tab and select previously-created Purchased Items or Recipe Items as ingredients. If the Unit of Measure needs to be updated but the necessary U of M is not listed in the drop-down selector, navigate to that ingredient's item record and update the 'Unit of Measure Equivalence' tab.

Step 4: Enter your Yield and Portion Sizes

On the 'Recipe' tab, enter the correct values for the 'Yield Qty' and 'Portion Size' fields and their corresponding Units of Measure.

Step 5: Enable Item in Inventory

Finally, return back to the 'General' tab and check the 'Available in Inventory' checkbox so that this Prep Recipe can be included on Stock Counts for tracking and costing purposes. Check any additional checkboxes as needed and save the Recipe Record.
